With its pleasant climate all year round, La Gomera is a true paradise for cycling enthusiasts and a real challenge at the same time. Anyone who dares to take on the mountainous adventure with an e-mountain bike will be rewarded with impressive views and the enjoyment of a wide variety of landscapes and flora, as well as dreamy bathing bays.
With a diameter of only 25 kilometres, the second smallest of the Canary Islands is known for its numerous climate zones and associated temperature differences, which are mainly due to the large differences in altitude. The roads of La Gomera wind in numerous serpentines around and around the island, covering almost 1,000 metres of altitude. As many villages are still connected by original, narrow donkey paths, so-called “caminos reales”, or newer hiking trails, cyclists will find the most beautiful e-bike tours through desert-like agave landscapes, mountainous canyons and evergreen cloud forests.
From the highest point of the island, the Alto de Garajonay, more than 50 deep ravines, up to 800 metres deep, wind down to the cliffs and beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. For mountain bikers, the narrow trails of La Gomera, which are barely handlebar-wide, are a real Eldorado.
No matter who, if beginner, advanced or professional, on the numerous cycle paths of the volcanic island, no one will get a raw deal by cycling on La Gomera.
